Do you like stories that make you feel like you are in the foreign city? Love Noir's superb character development is enhanced by the high quality writing describing the setting for the story - Paris. I loved reading this Mystery thriller/Love story set in Paris. I felt part of the city, could feel the energy, could sense the history. The writing was not generalizations about the city and the places where the action took place. The author selects items from each setting and allows you to see the item, to understand its importance.Do you like stories with 3 dimensional characters? Love Noir gave me an empathy for the characters, a desire to be them and a great relief that I was not. Even the secondary characters are described with care moving them well past a cardboard stand-up status. Early in the book, I found my prejudices forcing the main characters into a two dimensional description, but the story guided me to more and more empathy, more understanding until the point I both wished I was one of them, and glad I wasn't.
I highly recommend novel. It is a good length. You could easily read the entire book in a East-West coast roundtrip plane ride (U.S). Take a risk and give the book a chance. It is certainly not your typical, predictable fare.
